or was that a typo? For example, I would've written that 8,768 km. I know y'all do your dates opposite of us. It's always fascinated me. Little differences, as they point out in Pulp Fiction. So, do you eat your french fries with mayonnaise?
And don't get me started on standard vs. metric. I have no idea why Americans insist on remaining ass backwards there. Must be our arrogance again. Wish we could get over that.

I'm on the East Coast but I have to fly to Tempe, AZ four times a year for business. If the FDO makes AZ a stop on his Contagious book tour I am totally planning a business trip around it!
~~~ mwhuahahahahaha ... so it's, you know, coming along ~~~~~~~
Somehow I'd gotten the impression (obviously false) that JP, you, and ShadyGirl were all up in CO. Thought I saw something about y'all getting together for drinks semi-regularly. Cest la vie.
Don't suppose you're friends with Evo as well? I go hang out with him and Sheila when I go down to Phoenix metro. Looking forward to AZ podcamp this November. Should be able to network/meet lots of folks there.
Unfortuantely I havent met anyone from this forum in person...had plans to make it to Houston and then had to cancel for work commitments. But maybe the Contagious tour will be my chance.
Haven't met Evo either but based on his Podiobooks.com comments and the banter on Twitter, he seems like a really amiable guy.
The East coast is pretty much one big megalopolis, unless you're pretty far South. Figured you'd have lots of opportunities to meet people. Must be your penchant for mystery holding you back ;)
Then again, I'm fairly surprised that I've had zero response to the AZ junkie post. Figured I'd at least get a few from Tucson or Phoenix metro. That's several million people.
Gmork, Twowire and I were separated at birth. My father, her father and his father are all fathers--you see: we're related. That's why you may notice occasional gross similarities in our senses of humor. And Shadygirl and I have spent a minimum of seven years in close proximity to Gmork on the East Coast, even though we never met. You're on target with Colorado though--Shadygirl and I grew up there together--we've known each other since the earliest days of grade school. Well, I was in grade school. She was too young still. Yup, I guess I was sort of robbing the cradle... We literally shared a back yard as kids. Our marriage is proof that arranged marriages work! We'll return to Colorado once I'm done being an international man of mystery and part time pastry chef. And twisted English professor. PS: for anyone who's kept up with that whole bag of guessing what it is I ACTUALLY do--I'll give you this nugget: I actually am a "credentialed" professor, even though I don't teach right now. Twowire, don't tell folks what I actually do. That's part of what makes me internationally mysterious... (Queue the mysterious music, and fade...)
International man of mystery, credentialed Professor, part time pastry chef, vein lover, part of the Gmorkian family...you're just spilling all the secrets!!!
You're off target with your assumption about veins--use the search tool and you'll see what that's about. That said, why do you assume I look like my avatar? (Or do you suspect that Gmork actually looks like a 1970's vintage toaster??? Grin.) Then again, my avatar might just be a pic of me. Who's to say... other than Shadygirl.
- "I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka." -Dr. Horrible
Since you must be making a joke...I'll joke right along with you: take a gander at the right side of this very web page. As you scroll down past the "Recent Flicker Pictures" you'll notice a discrete and unobtrusive little box that says "Search Site." It's amazing but true that this site has its own search tool much like many (most?) other well-developed and managed sites. Just type in the word "veins" and you should strike gold. (Or something else. Veins isn't actually a reference to gold...) And for the record, Gmork is definitely right--I'm a great fan of veins!
- "I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka." -Dr. Horrible
Everyone's entitled to be an idiot at times. As you (or someone else) pointed out previously, we're all human. I have my 'moments' just like everyone else.
I do have to say, that is NOT where I look when I'm looking for a search tool. I expect it to be somewhere near the upper left. That's where they usually are......
Persistant Sadock has figured out both gender and matrial status...very good young Padawan. Now if you were really resourceful you could have the rest of the story via popular social networking sites, not to be named.
But hold your head high ... it's a fine term that has brought many giggles and childish smirks in my household. And hey, you could be known on the site for worse things, that's for sure.
isn't really a problem. It's actually some sort of gift! But being haunted by the term... Then again Gmork, you're definitely right--I could be known for worse. Much worse. I mean in theory of course. (Hey n8, how's Martha these days?)
- "I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka." -Dr. Horrible
If you weren't you would have just done what Twowire did, rather than make the statement that it looks like the Friend Finder or Frapper isn't going to happen. (Sounds like blame. That's why you had to qualify your statement...)
- "I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka." -Dr. Horrible
I hadn't intended it that way, but there probably is some latent passive aggression going on there. Thanks for pointing it out. All I'd intended was to continue the local thing cross country if others saw the posts by TwoWire and I. Tact is *so* not my thing.
Not to the whining though, well maybe alittle. :) I created a thread also looking for Junkies in the States surrounding Oklahoma. Hoping to maybe find a city that is central to us we could vote on for a book tour stop.
I used the find function in Firefox, but came up empty. Are you referring to something else? Possibly the cook angle?
