Hey Scott I hope you get a chance to read this. I just wanted to thank you for getting me into reading. I was never really one to read before I found your podcast novels. Earthcore was my first in many years. My wife has always been trying to get me to read, but I just could not focus on anything for more than 20 minutes at a time. ADHD go figure. She would tell me I just have to find my Author. Well let me tell you that Earthcore was Awesome! You inspired me to read. Holy S***! Lets just say I picked up both Earthcore and Ancestor read them both many atime now, and checking out new authors as well. I'm hooked and it's all your doing! Me and my wife now read together on occasion, and it is really relaxing. Keep up the awesome work. I cannot wait for Nocturnal. I am now a Junkie. I can't thank you more.
So the OP listened to a podcast of yours and it got him to read......
Is he sort of dissing your podcast voice? Like, it was so bad I just got the damn book?
just sayin'

first, to Iron the thread starter. kudos to you for having the mindset to keep looking for 'your author', as you put it. this is what i tell just about everyone that comes in and says "I don't read" or "my son/daughter/ whatever won't read and I'm looking for something..."
and a big yeehaw to Sigler for being that author for you..
now that I'm finished being a complete nerd, I'm dialing it down to partial nerdness.
I work in a tiny library in a tiny town, and wear many hats there. One of those hats is that I'm the horror/fantasy/scifi go to chick and the one who basically tells my boss which books to order for that section. I also am the one whom patrons seek out when they are looking for what to read next in those genres.
As a matter of fact, I put all of Sigler's books on my 'buy this, please" list as soon as I discovered he had broken into print.
In my library, anyway, that poster would be great to put up right next to the section. and I would TOTALLY give out bookmarks with the same or similar images/phrases to people who checked out those books.
Librarians in general are no longer all bitchy old woman with bad buns who tell you to shut the hell up. The entire professionis moving towards the tattooed, pierced, funky haired crowd with a true sense of humor in a lot of places.
just an fyi, in case anyone is looking into Sigler marketing ideas.

Dear Mr. Sigster:
We at National Chicken Scissors, Inc. wish to express our outrage at the sudden use of Chicken Scissors as an instrument of encouraging reading amongst and with the public, especially amongst said public known as Junkies. It was specifically agreed upon that Chicken Scissors, Inc. would be used to:
1. Cut chicken parts
2. Do vile things to a human person part, presently here unmentioned.
3. Be used to cut out the Hello Kitty Valentines for my daughter's party because I couldn't find the regular scissors. All Right! It was only once! Give me a Break!
Returning to our diatribe, should we hear again that you are encouraging reading through Chicken Scissors, we will be forced to send a more sterner warning. A nice exquisitely sharp two bladed warning, with lovely handles.
Sincerely,
Ephraim C. Potash

Hey now, whatever gets the kids to read, you know? So what if we have to cut a few of them to get 'em to straigten up? That's called "acceptable losses" in my Plan for World Domination™.
or course book sales will increase but people might start thinking for them selfs and be harder to control. They might even read Matt Wallace's or JC Hutchins books. they might vote or not always pay retail. Of course it would also make them able to read the tech. manual for all those cool new weapons used to take over the world and the insight for when to or not to use them, since Food, doctors, and engineers have been the most effective weapons in the long term.
Done and done. The full size image is perfect for a wide-screen desktop wallpaper. I also found a better font on my work computer :D

The ways of the Lord are often dark but never pleasant.
But I find those to be the height of disturbing, as they are identical to the pair that came with my cutlery set.

Scott definitely got me back into reading! And I think the "Read or Die" is definitely something to look into. Every teacher could be provided a copy of the poster as well as a pair of chicken scissors. Woo!
