Best Fricking show on television! lots of twists, turns, and even some pretty creepy ways to die! Must watch for junkies! If you aren't a fan, lemme know- i can get you there! Right Scott? a favorite Sigler quote: "you wanna know what Rain Man's all about? Ask her about LOST!" HEEEEE!
Lost IS sci fi, but I think they did a clever thing not shouting it out from the beginning. It preserved the mystery of what was going on. People default looked for a 'rational' explanation, and had to eventually give in-- like the characters-- to whoah this isn't normal/natural.
If they'd come out of the gate blowing their sci-fi horn, then most of the mystery would've been, well, less mysterious. Also, they got true fans rather than just people who watch every sci-fi show that comes down the pike as well as fans that might not have tuned in if it had screamed 'I AM SCI-FI!'
I got sucked in by the characters (aka, Jin and Locke) then got the wow, this is... yeah... my new replacement for what Season 1 Twin Peaks was to me when I was a little child.
My whole issue with Lost and why I've never watched a single episode is that the producers refuse to call a spade, a spade.
I know that science fiction gets a bad rap - but labeling your show a 'mystery' makes it no less science fiction even if it does get the people who badmouth scifi to tune in.
Never seen it - even when Nathan Fillion was on it and I'd watch Captain Tightpants read the phone book.

l stopped laughing so bring it number cruncher. Lets dance. If l win you have to renounce lost and admit that words are better than numbers. If you win i will stop writing about you in truck stops.
lost is ok, it is more fantasy than s/f. i enjoy it, but am waiting for it to end and will rent the boxed set and watch it straight through, i get too lost between seasons, especially with them bouncing back and forth on the time line

Lost bored me, beside the number people that could survive a crash like that would be about 0.
There needs to be some reality if you are going set your show in a real place. At least Gillian had reality to it, ever the electric generating cane and coconut bake makes more sense than a tribe of soft westerners surviving a 200 mph impact.
I hope that Wrong Way Wainwright shows up and picks up the lot of them and crashes again to do the job right.
Think Like A Mob.
Though you may be one you are powerful, take that power and change the world.

As far as sci-fi shows go...it's definitely up there....but invisible dinosaurs and polar bears? I lost interest pretty quick.
I know you're quite the advocate for Lost.....but I'll stick to 24 and Heroes! :)

and I almost fell asleep reading the thread. Lost just isn't that good.
Some of the best TV on TV has already been done. X-Files, Sopranos, Carnivale, Project Runway (did I just say that out loud?), and Mad Men.

....and you can tell that from the crappy TV that I may or may not watch?
Whether you want to believe it or not, there are lots of things on TV that are better than Lost.
Also, there are lots of things that are NOT on TV that are more worthwhile than Lost.
Which reminds me, I have leaves in gutters that I have to make Lost.
